Defoamers

Cement slurries tend to foam or entrain air during mixing operations, making it difficult to achieve the desired slurry density un- less anti-foamers or defoamers are used. Anti-foam agents function by spreading on the surface of the foam or entering the foam & forming a film that does not support the foam structure.

CA 100

Organophosphonate liquid

Organophosphonate liquid that prevents foaming & air entrainment at low dosages. Compatible with other cement additives, but should not be used in pre-hydrated, bentonite slurries. Normal concentration is 0.03-0.06% by weight of water (BWOW).

CA 100P

Blend of a modified lignosulfonate plus an organic acid

Organophosphonate powder (50% active by weight) that prevents foaming & air entrainment at low dosages. Compatible with other cement additives, but should not be used in pre-hydrated, bentonite slurries. Normal concentration is 0.3-0.5% by weight of cement (BWOC).

CA 2325

Alkali borate

Organic defoamer that quickly destroys foam in a variety of applications and prevents re-foaming at low dosages. Also prevents excessive shrinkage, porosity & weakness of the set cement. Normal concentration is 0.06-0.12% by weight of water (BWOW).
