Acid Corrosion Inhibitors

Uninhibited hydrochloric acid of varying strength will corrode steel. The amount of damage to assets due to acid is a function of contact time, acid strength, and temperature. Acid corrosion inhibitors work in two ways: 1) the inhibitor diffuses from the bulk solution to the metal surface, and 2) the inhibitor adsorbs or forms a protective film on the metal surface.
